Clan Gunn: Gerek Reviews
Clan Gunn: Gerek--1650 Scotland of the Bishops' War CLAN GUNN: GEREK tells the story of two strong people who wage internal battles while surmounting untold challenges to find love. This is not a story for the faint of heart, for the author paints a realistic portrait of a brutal time…Dorice Nelson seamlessly interweaves subplots of secrecy, jealousy, and intrigue with the romance. A perfect story for those who like their romance tinged with history and mayhem. 4 **** Stars Cindy Vallar, Simply e-Books CLAN GUNN: GEREK has all the elements a historical romance should have; a strong female lead and a sexually enticing, stubborn male lead; a touch of intimate moments and a battle of wits. I fell head over heels with Dorice Nelson's characters from the moment I met them. From page one I was involved in the story of their lives and how they ended up wrapped together. I could feel the passion of these two heating up the page in front of me; surprised the book didn't burn up when their eyes met in a battle of passionate anger for the first time. Nelson knows how to bring her readers into their world and she never lets you forget them for a moment, even if you put the book down. Unlike other historical romances, there are small lessons throughout this book. Truth, passion and love can conquer the worst the world throws at you. I came away from this book feeling better about my love for my husband and told him so. Between fighting each other, fighting themselves and, of course, battling others who intervene with their lives, this book is filled with love, passion and even a touch of mystery. A hard book to forget and even harder characters to forget. 5 ***** Stars Danielle Naibert, The Book Reviewers Site Dorice Nelson brings us a tale of two fabulously detailed characters that are meant to be together, yet yanked apart at every conceivable turn, usually by their own stubbornness. She goes into great depth to bring out every aspect of her heroine's fiery temperament and uncertainties. She also brings out the all-male, yet somehow vulnerable character of Gerek. In short, you'll sigh when they come together and scream when they part; you'll live through this adventure that pulls out all the emotions. Dorice has done an exceptional job of making this an adventure you won't soon forget. And there is one character that all will fall in love with – Dubh! I won't tell who that is, because it'll spoil the mystery of it all, but believe me, you gotta love Dubh! Thanks for the marvelous read; CLAN GUNN: GEREK is another one added to my collection of favorites. 5 ***** Stars Rita Hestand, Romancing The Web and The Ivy Quill Only a brilliant, well-crafted story has the power to draw a reader into the story making them feel as though they are part of the action. CLAN GUNN: GEREK is one of the few. Well-written, lilting dialogue and warm, believable characters turn the story from written word into portrait that comes to life in the reader's mind. I thoroughly enjoyed the story from beginning to end and had to force myself to walk away from the computer to take breaks. To my dismay, those breaks were spent wanting to read more about Cat and Gerek's decisions, leaving me itching to return to my desk. Historical fans will adore Cat and Gerek's passionate romance; it certainly is scintillating and sensual! I know that Ms. Nelson writes as fast as she possibly can, but I would really like to see the continuation soon! 5 ***** Stars Tracy Farnsworth, Romance Readers Connections

Indeed, author Dorice Nelson creates a richly textured, finely detailed novel of exploit, betrayal and discovery as these characters capture the heart and imagination of readers. Secondary characters likewise present themselves as believable and sympathetic as Nelson never falls into the trap of painting her villains with a totally black brush. A gutsy, fierce tale with a vividly realized historical background, CLAN GUNN: GEREK comes very highly recommended. 5 ***** Stars Cindy Penn, Word Weaving
I have to admit, I'm in love. I'm in love with Gerek and the wonderful story that surrounds him and Cat. Ms. Nelson has written a wonderful romance. She has made her characters breathe. She has put life into them, and you fall in love with them. The Highlands are alive with feeling. You feel the fog, smell the trees and earth, marvel at the beautiful waterfalls, and feel the cold water on your skin. You cry when Cat comes up against her horrible father and brothers. You will scream at her when she flies off the handle with her fiery temper, but, at the same time, understand why. Your emotions soar as you follow the story. I have never been one for romance stories. But now I think I am hooked. CLAN GUNN: GEREK is a true love story, one that you have to read. The lives of these people are complicated, yet seem to run together at the same time. The story is full of romance, suspense, murder, and even some comedy. But most of all it is full of love. You will feel so good when you come to that last page and at the same time crave more. I recommend that everyone read this wonderful, wonderful book, CLAN GUNN: GEREK. It is one you will not be able to put down. Even when you close it after reading that last page, you will go back to read it again, because you become a part of the story. A story that completely overtakes you. 5***** Stars Sue Hartigan, All About Murder/RIO

Ms. Nelson has written a riveting, well-researched novel…She has gently delved into the deepest inner emotions of people who must overcome mistrust, fear and the lingering after-effects of mental and physical abuse, and has done it well. Ms. Nelson’s vivid descriptions enabled me to smell the mist rising off lakes and the frigid chill of a Highland evening, and I look forward to reading more from this very gifted author. Denise M. CLAN GUNN: GEREK – this is the story of Gerek and Catriona, a story so fascinating that you will not be able to put the book down till you turn the last page and even then you will be wishing for more. Dorice Nelson has expertly woven a tale of love, mistrust, and deceit in the setting of the Highlands of Scotland during the 1600’s. Watch out for Dorice Nelson – she is a force to be reckoned with. In my opinion, she is right up there with Catherine Coulter and other famous historical romance authors. In Clan Gunn: Gerek, Ms. Nelson creates an intriguing adventure that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next! In a relationship fraught with familial deceit, abuse, betrayal and fear, how can two scarred souls find their way to happiness? Lastly, while I enjoyed the development of all of the characters, I have to admit that I developed a certain fondness for Dubh, Gerek's expressive and devoted deerhound, along the way.
