The Sarah's Landing Series

Sarah's Landing-I – Contact:

There are two main settings for this series – Sarah's Landing, Earth, and the Planet Theon in a galaxy far beyond the reach of man, with a few side trips thrown in, particularly earthbound trips...with one very special off-beat excursion known as the "between" the path that exists in the interim between Earth and the alien planet Theon. The time frame is the future —the year 2055.

As the story begins, it weaves around Sarah's Landing, one of the last vestiges of an earlier era where its trusting inhabitants, are completely unaware of its unusual bond with an alien city, in an undiscovered galaxy thousands of light years away and to an alien culture no one knows exists. What is more they have no idea that in this city exists a race of aliens who possess telepathic, telekinetic, psychic abilities more powerful and far-reaching than anyone could have imagined, and are able to travel throughout the universe at will, and shroud their planet to keep it "invisible" to any prying eyes.

 

Sarah's Landing is a small fictional village that exists in one of the many inlet fingers along the rocky shores of New England that stretches from Massachusetts to the Maine coast. It is a place out of time —with the look of an ancient fishing village one might see on a large worn picture book. There are no radar stations, just a round tower called a lighthouse. A long time ago, bright lights flashed across the water to warn sailors of impending danger of the jagged rocks close to the shore. And now a visitor might stare at the lighthouse as if it was an alien spacecraft.

Standing on the bluff near the lighthouse the visitor could see miles of rocky shore and Ancient colonial homes with weather-beaten frames standing along the sea. And from his vantage point, every now and then, the remains of long wooden docks, unused and rotted in places, looking like atrophied limbs floating lifelessly in the water, the shoreline swinging in and out like a drunken sailor. At one point he would see the land curving dramatically inward forming a sheltered cove. And above the cove he would see a huge old building; the stone worn and dirty, and the wood appearing as if it had weathered at least a hundred years. And now, black shutters were closed over some of the windows, resembling dark clouds hovering over the sea, giving him cause to shiver in the gentle warm ocean breeze.

Investigating the strange disappearances of people from various parts of the planet takes us on side trips to the secret government archives in Washington, D.C., searching for information. This is turn causes us to travel to the Uranium Caves along the Colorado River in Utah, and leaving both areas with more questions than answers. Returning to Sarah's Landing, a decision to investigate the strange appearance of a door in the office wall during an exceptionally violent thunder storm, leads us down the steep icy steps of a strange passageway to an underground cavern and the launching point of an unexpected journey into deep space and the alien planet Theon.

 

Star City the Alien City on Theon:

The search for a compatible life form was necessitated by the strange affliction that affected its people causing tremendous sickness and death among the population. The leader of the alien city believed it was all caused by a probe from the planet Earth thrown off course by heavy meteor activity in space and causing the disabled probe to land on his planet.

 

Star City the domed city below the hill sparkled like a jewel in the sunlight and stretched as far as the eye could see. But no one lived outside this city. It wasn't permitted. The environmental, dome covering the city kept the temperature and humidity inside evenly controlled. Outside, due to the harshness and extremely cold and deadly atmosphere, people could not survive for more than a very short time without the proper survival equipment.

The city has a unique traffic problem. At times, when people were teleporting or levitating to other parts of the city, on the spur of the moment, they sometimes collided in flight. However, there are many medical units throughout the city, which are capable of handling any emergency, and if necessary could instantly teleport patients to a more complex unit for treatment.

Every street was lined with a circular globe suspended in mid-air giving off a bluish hue. At night these same globes illuminated the entire city brilliantly, achieving a daylight appearance even during the darkest hours. All single and double living units inside the dome have open archways and a botanical garden capable of moving at various speeds for their own pleasure.

Teleportation was and is their main means of travel. Even through space, they can teleport "between" that empty space between here and there known as the "void". However, they do have their beam-ships, which is used mainly for transporting larger forces to Earth and back.

 

The Legacy Series:

There are two main settings in the Legacy Series that encompasses all three books. The House On The Bluff and Caleb's Cove.

It didn’t look any different from other stately houses along the shoreline and inlet seas of New England. It still had an air of dignity about it with its white, clapboard-covered, multi-tiered and dormer-studded roofs, and its blue shuttered windows. And, it seemed to be easily accessible by front, back, side, or basement doors. As always, there were the large floor-to-ceiling windows, first and second floor wrap-around porches, and a widow’s walk sitting high atop the house. But then, too, there was a white picket fence in disrepair, running along the front of the property, its broken slats standing aloft, weaving in and out of the holding rails. To complete its demeanor, the gate squeaked unattended as it swung free from restraint. On the top floor, from a shattered window, curtains periodically flowed through the break as gusts of wind blew wantonly through it.

The house sat imperviously alone on a bluff, above windswept dunes that seemed to drift down to the sea on Adam's Point. The open ocean beckoned as its waves washed against the fragile shoreline. It stood unoccupied for decades, appearing alone and forbidding, with its gravel driveway leading down to the sand dunes. The wind blew out of the northeast. The widow’s walk perched high above, looked like a crow’s nest on a sailing vessel of long ago. But as beautiful as it appeared to be there was no electricity, heat, water, food or phone available within the house. 

Inside the grand main entrance hall the stairs rose to the second level and above. From the darkened second floor hallway, closed doors lead to the rooms behind them. The stairs led to the third floor. Again, the doors were closed to the rooms hidden behind them. Moving on up a ladder and out to the widow’s walk above, where the vast clear blue ocean stretches unobstructed, while its waves washing gently upon the dunes and back again into the waters, taking a part of the fragile land with them.

Through the manifestation of the "house" and the "spirits" that inhabit it, we may find ourselves back to the beginning of time, to an early English pub, or to prehistoric times, where we flounder searching for the way back.

Adam's Point is connected to civilization by a one way, narrow, twisting, winding, dirt road through heavy fauna, leading to a span that stretched from Caleb's Cove to Adam's Point. The causeway was built so low to the water that a good wave could wash anyone on it away.

 

Calebs Cove

At the town square, there was a fire station, a church sexton who periodically rang the bell in the church steeple, and a Revolutionary Hero's Statue in the middle of the square. It had two main restaurants, which were mainly bed and breakfasts. On the ocean, the fishing boats and sailing vessels were bobby at the slips nearby. The people at Caleb's Cove were aware of the House On The Bluff, but no one ever ventured up that way.

 

Time-Rift

The Time Rift setting is in the Hawaiian Islands, a pineapple plantation on the foothills of the West Maui Mountains on the Island of Maui, a native's shack on Kauai which was backed up against a row of palm trees, with the front door opening up to a clear wide sandy expanse to the ocean. Deep beneath the surface of the Pacific Ocean in a city that shouldn't exist is a race of beings with milk-white skins, blue eyes, and flaxen hair. We see an exquisite, breathtakingly beautiful room. The white, marbled statues that circled the room, each depicting a special scene of some kind, symmetrically broke the black striated walls. One statue stretched from the ceiling to the floor. On each side of the tableau were black marbled stairways leading away from the room to other parts of this strange world, while above, the now contained waters of the Pacific flowed visibly overhead. Outside the Council Building beautifully shaped tall trees arrayed along carved, broad stone roads, plush, green meadows, rolling hills and the ever-present water-sky stretched as far as the eye can see. Neatly lining all of the roads were illuminated globes of light suspended in mid-air. These spheres gave the appearance of broad daylight across the land, causing the water-sky to seem a more ominous, deeper, blacker, gray.

A strange looking vehicle for transportation to anyone looking at it would believe it was a car confiscated from a roller coaster. There was no obvious method of driving this vehicle, it's only means of movement was through the operator's telepathic command.
